While working my way to earning a BFA at the University of Arizona I had the opportunity to learn the craft of woodworking and fine-furniture making. I worked for a furniture design company that believed in the concept of sustainability. We would clear ranch land of fallen trees and large stumps, using an extra-long chainsaw on a boom, to turn scavenged wood into usable boards. Unfortunately, after five years I had to cease working with wood due to my health. My design portfolio was ready so I hit the streets and landed a job as an art director. After spending 20 years working on advertising campaigns, I migrated to market research and now product design. I am an entrepreneur and currently conduct market research on products and services for other companies and my own endeavors. Eventually this led to designing a line of pet furnishings for urban spaces. Because they are smaller, balancing that need for space requires function and elegance to be part of every piece. In my case, I had rented a room in Santa Monica with my two cats in tow and no furniture. We created, we played, we imagined the Wave Perch with many more modern pet furnishing designs in the works.
